I paint by stretching the brain beyond its everyday capacity, expanding my ability to see through my meditative practice.  My goal is to allow the paintings to form on canvas without interference.  I paint ancient myths and archetypal memories, bringing them into modern relevance and using them to illuminate the transformative chaos of the 21st century.

I am influenced by observing the patterns of the earth, especially how humans and our ecosystem interact with one another.  Before I painted, I studied anthropology with Margaret Mead and Levi Strauss. I now use paint instead of words to describe the cycles of life, encoded in myth. I have been painting the earth as it reveals its inner core.  As water washes over the land and eruptions pry the earth open, what once seemed stable and unchanging is drastically altered. The transformation of the earth is a mirror for the transfiguration and flow of all life. Paint is a way for me to express both the seen and unseen.
